This page is dedicated to
Bjørn Kenneth Hansen for whom the film work would not have
been possible.
Kenneth lives amongst one of
the most spectacular landscapes on this planet known as the
Lofoten Islands in arctic Norway. Kenneth has been involved in
more than fifty films during his interesting life. He is a man
of great depth and character and who has an infectious sense of
humour.
He is an educated man and
in many subjects, self taught. He enjoys a humble lifestyle
and has very little time for the material things of this
world. The most cherished possession is his life with his wife
Else and his children.
Perhaps for a man living in
this incredible place, why ask for anything more! Kenneth's
passion for his islands is reflected in his films with
stunning land and seascape sequences that are rarely seen on
film outside Scandinavia.
With the help from cameraman,
Remi Johansen, Steve was nominated to appear in and present
Kenneth's latest film project 'Lofoten, A
Place of Peace and Power', a 50 minute documentary
highlighting the many interesting facets of the islands.
On January 2nd 2006 whilst
London was still recovering from the New Years Eve celebrations Steve found
himself flying out to the Lofoten Islands. The last of the
three flights is in a small 19 seater airplane which only adds
to the adventure of visiting these unique islands.
Although there were no
prepared scripts or time for rehearsals Steve enjoyed a busy
schedule touring around Lofoten meeting with some
extraordinary people and seeing some equally extraordinary
sights.
One of the highlights
was seeing the killer whales alongside the boat just beyond
arms length.
The film itself covers all
aspects of Lofoten from its geological history to the tragic
historical events during World War II. The film allows the
viewer into the world of the Shaman and a spiritual healer, it
displays the unconventional talents of artists who have drawn
their inspiration from the islands. Steve says he feels privileged
to be
able to have met and interview these people, see all of the
incredible sights and says the memories will last forever.
The film is currently
in the studio for editing. Steve still needs to carry out voice over works
later in the year but we expect a public release
date for the film in the near future.
Meanwhile we will add
photos from the film schedule through this site.
When the film on
DVD is released and ready for public retail then details will
be posted here of how to obtain copies.
