Travelling with the music has played a large and fascinating part in my life. I have always been drawn towards landscapes of remoteness, mountains, glens, dales, fjords, forests and the wild nature contained within.

The preparations for travel and the stress of airport life is at times a real burden. Most of my travels overseas these days are to arctic Norway at a latitude of around 78 degrees north. These areas are places of extremes. The winter months can be almost 24 hours of darkness and it can be disorientating for a Londoner shopping down-town in total darkness at mid-day! However during the summer months then it is the opposite and these areas get 24 hour sunshine which again I find completely disorientating.

In such lands the elements of nature have honed its people into a relaxed and calm race of people, always ready to welcome you into their home with a hot coffee pot. The weather conditions make for people that are used to split second decision making and this is reflected in their social lives. If you are a visitor to these parts don't be surprised to be invited to a barbeque in February with deep snow all around and temperatures of minus 10 or much more!!

I continue to look forward to many more weird and wonderful trips to these lands.
